a ring & some words...thats all it took

well, its my 16th birthday today. its also the day i got the biggest surprise of my life!!! well, today started out pretty normal, my 'rents called me & told me happy birthday, we love you, etc., etc. so i went into the kitchen in pony's house, & the whole gang's there, with this big CAKE. i think kitkat & bubblegum made it, kitkat had flour on her face. but everyone sang me happy birthday. it was pretty cool. but around noon johnny wanted me to go to the lot with him, so i did. & by the way, this will tie it in: earlier this week, johnny wanted to know what my birthstone was(its garnet). so we went to the lot, even tho its like the middle of the day, & he said, "i got you a present", which confused me, cause he alredy gave me a present, that money he saved up so i could get earrings. here's the shock: johnny gets down on 1 knee, & opens up this lil box, & there's this little garnet ring, with tiny diamonds on each side. & i quote from johnny: "rose, i love you more than romeo could have ever loved juliet. my love for you is greater than the number of stars in the sky that we see every night. will you love me as i love you, & spend eternity with me as my wife? will you marry me?" i couldn't speak!!! i'm still in partial shock, i can't believe it! so, i start crying(tears of joy, of course), & i respond(which we both kinda sound like some old romance movie), "johnny cade, you love me so deeply, & by some miracle, i love you the same, more than my own life. i do!" then, you all kno, happy ending, kisses, etc. but here's the catch: then we hear cheering! everyone in the gang followed us! turns out that about 2 weeks ago, johnny told the guys that he decided to propose to me on my 16th b-day, but he didn't have anything. he didn't have a ring, didn't kno what to do, & so on. so, the guys saved up EVERYTHING to help him buy the ring, & pony helped him come up with the idea to take me to the lot & say the whole romeo & juliet proposal. kitkat & bubblegum were MAD, tho, cause they didn't kno. they were all like,"y didn't you tell us that johnny was proposing to rosy, soda?!" so, i'm 16, & i just got engaged 3 hours ago. we don't kno anything about the wedding yet, but there's 3 problems: 1, there's goin to be hell goin on @ school once the socs figure out that rose, bob's ex-girlfriend, just got engaged to a greaser. 2, johnnycake & i don't kno what we're gonna do after the wedding. we're gonna live together(DUH), but my waitress job isn't very rich, & i dunno how johnny's gonna get a job to support us @ 16. & 3, MY PARENTS. they're gonna hit the roof once they find out that when they were gone, their barely-16 yr old daughter, who's still in high school, is getting married!! to a greaser with no job, no home, & no money! its gonna be hard, but i think johnny & i will be ok. well, i should go, steve is REDOING the party tonite a bit, so now its "rosy's birthday party/rosy's engagement party". good grief! besides, kitkat & bubblegum INSIST on planning the wedding, which they've decided should be on february 16th, a month from today. i'm helping them, so i'm gonna work overtime @ the dingo to get money for the wedding. bye! (i can't believe i'm getting married!!!)
